Safeguarding level 1

Safeguarding Level 1 delves into foundational principles, encompassing routine responsibilities such as the appropriate channels and methods for reporting concerns. This level encompasses a thorough examination of UK government legislation and guidance. Furthermore, it offers insights into key indicators of neglect and provides participants with the skills to discern these critical signs. Level 1 is tailored for individuals working in close proximity to children and young people, ideally suited for positions including, but not limited to: receptionists, administrative personnel, taxi drivers, caterers, event coordinators, office teams, and hotel staff.

Aims

Introduce participants to the fundamental concepts and principles of safeguarding.

Ensure that all individuals understand their duty in protecting the well-being of vulnerable people, whether they are children or adults.

Objectives

Define what safeguarding means and its importance.

Recognize the signs and indicators of abuse or harm.

Understand individual roles and responsibilities in the safeguarding process.

Familiarize participants with the correct procedures for reporting concerns about potential abuse or harm.

Discuss potential barriers to reporting and how to overcome them.

Emphasize the importance of effective communication in safeguarding.

Provide a brief overview of the key laws and policies related to safeguarding.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this presentation, you will be able to:

Understand UK regulations for both.

Identify types and signs of abuse.

Know the referral procedures for both demographics.
