This course is designed to cover the different current ceramic systems; composition, properties, indications and contraindications. This will help you to choose the best option according to the clinical situation.

Aims & Objectives

The online CPD course will aim to cover various categories of dental ceramic products; understanding composition and clinical application will give the knowledge and confidence to offer the best choice for your patients. Also, this knowledge will guide for better communication with your lab technician.

Speaker

Dr Sami Bissasu

Clinical teacher in Restorative Dentistry

PhD (Fixed Prosth), MSc (Fixed Prosth), LDS RCSEng, BDS, FHEA

Dr Bissasu graduated in 2003 from Damascus University, Syria. He had been awarded MSc followed by PhD in Fixed Prosthodontics 2015 from Damascus University.

Dr Bissasu teaches in the Institute of Dentistry, QMUL since 2016. He supervises undergraduate students in restorative clinics and in the clinical skills lab. Also, he has taught the postgraduate students preparing for the MSc in Clinical Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry in the College of medicine and dentistry (BPP previously).

Dr Bissasu taught in Syria for 9 years in Damascus University and Kalamoon University. Where he supervised undergraduate students in crown and bridge courses and also taught undergraduate dental technician students in crown and bridge and dental ceramic courses.

His main in vivo and in vitro research interests during PhD and MSc are resin-bonded bridges, veneers, aesthetic zone and all-ceramic restorations. Also as a researcher in QMUL, he was working with a research team in synthesizing a novel glass-ceramic material, which is going to be commercially produced in the near future.

Dr Bissasu practised in a private sector for more than 10 years in Syria. Now he works as a dentist with a special interest in Prosthodontics in private practice in Basildon where he focuses his treatment for aesthetic and rehabilitation cases.
