About the Event

Course Summary:

Delegates will gain additional techniques to improve denture retention, stability, and aesthetics. They will be gain further assessment tools for planning dentures and improved proficiency when prescribing and communication with the dental laboratory.

Denture related courses are provided in a number of sessions and delegates do not need to take them in order.

Session 1: Taking Impression, Session 2: Adaptation, Session 3: Denture Design, Session 4: Inter-Professional Working, Session 5: Repair and Reline, Session 6: Living with dentures (Care and advices)

Aim and Objectives:

The instructor will during the session:

Provide strategies for filling out laboratory cards and prescription writing.

Offer recommended arrangements for producing comprehensive RPDs designs.

Outline RPD design drawing fundamentals.

Analyse key areas of dental impression errors for dentures

Define ideal tooth and shade selection guidelines

Identify laboratory mistakes and how to spot them.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the session, delegates should be able to:

Produce better-quality prescriptions and improved laboratory card communication

Create improved RPDs designs.

Understanding what technicians expect from impressions for dentures.

Understand the ideal environment for tooth and shade selection

Recognise common laboratory mistakes

Speakers:

Mr Chad Everett Cluff

Technician - N Dip (Dent Tech), FdSc, CILT, AFHEA

a Tutor in the Centre of Adult Oral Health, at Bart's and the London, School of Medicine and Dentistry. Having gained the National Award (2005) in Dental Technology, he went on to study at the Eastman Dental Hospital where he completed his FdSc in Dental Technology awarded by De Montfort University, Leicester (2008). A Former Council Member for the Dental Technologist Association (DTA). He is an Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (HEA) having been awarded the Certificate in Learning and Teaching (CILT) 2013. He is currently module lead (occlusion) and an internal examiner for the MSc Dental Technology course (QMUL), sits on the Editorial Board for Primary Dental Journal, produced by the Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP UK) and Awarded Non-Clinical Teacher of the Year 2019 by Barts & The London Students Association (BLSA)
