About the Event

Course Brief Summary:

This hybrid course offers both theoretical understanding and practical application of full removable denture procedures. Through a series of online sessions and hands-on practice in a dental practice in London, participants will learn about examinations, denture design, impression materials, tray specifications, adjustments, communication with technicians, adaptations, and relining techniques. The course aims to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary for proficiently handling full removable denture cases.

Aims:

To provide a thorough understanding of the theoretical principles underlying full removable dentures.

To develop practical skills in impression-taking techniques and other essential procedures related to full removable dentures.

To enhance communication abilities with patients and dental technicians.

To equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify and manage complications associated with full removable dentures.

To familiarize participants with examination protocols and indications for full removable dentures.

To introduce participants to various denture design concepts and considerations.

To explore different impression materials and their applications in denture construction.

To educate participants on the types and specifications of trays used in denture impressions.

Session 1: Examinations, Indications, and Communications - 1 hour Monday 8th April

Session 2: Denture Design - 0.5 hour – Thursday 11thApril

Session 3: Impression Materials - 0.5 hour – Thursday 11thApril

Session 4: Trays - Types and Specifications - 0.5 hour – Wednesday 17th April

Session 5: Complications and Adjustments - 1 hour – Wednesday 24th May.

Session 6: Communication with Technicians - 0.5 hour - Wednesday 24th May.

Session 7: Adaptations - 0.5 hour - Thursday 2ndMay

Session 8: Relining - 1 hour - Thursday 2nd May

Practical (In London Practice):

Session 9: Taking Impressions Techniques - 4 hours / 5thJune

Speaker

Dr Ali Nankali is a Clinical Reader in Digital Dentistry in Teaching and Innovation (Adult Oral Health) Centre in the Barts and the London Medical and Dental School. In 1998, he took a keen interest in Restorative Dentistry, which led him to commence his extensive research on application of post/cores and a number of novel inventions including Nankali Post System, Nankali bur and new classifications.

Dr Nankali was awarded his PhD in 2004 by National Medical University (NMU) in Kiev, Ukraine where he registered as a Specialist / Consultant in Prosthodontics. Furthermore, his Engineering background in addition to his Prosthetics and Maxillofacial clinical experiences helped him in achieving ground-breaking outcomes on his researches related to distribution of masticatory force and mechanical strength of teeth's hard tissues that brought him to the attention of the scientific community.

At his current position, Dr Nankali is involved with undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students as well as regularly running CPD courses and conferences.
